Today, we celebrated Gavin and Joey's birthdays with a backyard bash! We could not have asked for a better day ... we were surrounded by friends, the weather was close to perfect, the mosquitoes stayed away (YAY!!!), and, for sweet's sake, there was lots & lots of cake! : )
Before lunch, everyone played around the backyard and went wild in the moonwalk. Literally wild. Boys were jumping from places not meant for jumping and sliding down places not meant for sliding .... thank goodness everyone went home in one piece! I think I'm beginning to realize the joys of having boys!
After lunch, the kids had a great time trying to m
assacre the Lightening McQueen pinata. Even with Alexander's mean swing and Callie's big blows, the pinata wasn't going down ... George had to help out a bit. I've never seen a more structurally sound pinata in my life. Despite the windfall of candy and loot, once Joey had a sucker, he was perfectly content and left the scene. Give him until next year ..... he'll be down there grabbing with everyone else!
After the pinata, it was time for cake! Joey had no problem blowing out the candle on his Cars cake (Ally helped!) and Gavin found it difficult to make time for his Thomas cake as he tried to make the cars on Joey's cake go around the racetrack.
The cakes were out of this world ... Estella did a phenomenal job on them!
There were no naps to be had after all the excitement (and sugar), so we made our way to the fall festival at St. Peter's to finish out our fun-filled day!
