It's Potty Time!

Second time must be the charm! We are back on the potty training road! Woo Hoo! And, I'm happy to say, so far so good! When spring break rolled around earlier this year, we decided it was time for Gavin to start using the potty. He was almost two and a half at the time, showed interest, and awareness of what was going on. So we started! And things were great! After a few days, Gavin was a pro (at #1 anyway!). So much so that we ventured out to WalMart with him in his undies. Sure enough as soon as we walked in the store he had to go. So there's Joey, sitting in the shopping cart in the doorway of the handicap stall with Gavin sort of standing on my thigh while I'm squatting down so he can reach the toilet. Things seem to be going good when all of a sudden the stall next to us flushes and Gavin is TERRIFIED (it was freakishly loud) and then our automatic flusher goes off and he is just beside himself. Suffice it to say, he refused to use the toilet anymore.

And, here we are, almost 6 months later and my little man is READY! His teacher, Ms. Cynthia, said a lot of times they cave in to using-the-potty peer pressure and she was right! He started using it at school and then asked to use it at home. We're still working on #2 but so far so good!

I'm really, really excited about cutting my diaper bill in half! : )
